WRISE announces departure of Executive Director Kristen Graf

 Brooklyn, NY. — Women of Renewable Industries and Sustainable Energy (WRISE), today announced that Kristen Graf, Executive Director, will be stepping down from WRISE at the end of this month. For over a decade, Kristen has been instrumental in spearheading new initiatives and has brought a genuine dedication to the growth of promoting diversity across the sector. Her enthusiasm for the mission of WRISE has been apparent. She will be greatly missed by the WRISE community and the organization wishes her every success in her future endeavors. 

Since joining WRISE (formerly known as Women of Wind Energy – WoWE) as Executive Director in 2009, Kristen has brought a tremendous level of energy, enthusiasm and industry knowledge to the role. During her tenure, Kristen implemented many programs, scholarships, mentoring, and professional development opportunities to support and build a more diverse renewable energy workforce. As the organization grew, Kristen oversaw the transition from a focus on the wind industry to advancing women across the renewable energy and sustainability spectrum. 

“I am so proud of all that this organization has grown into and am truly excited for the opportunities that lie ahead. After 13 years I recognize the organization will be best served by finding a new leader to shepherd it into the next phase,” said Kristen Graf, Executive Director of WRISE.

“I am working with the board to ensure as smooth a transition to new leadership as possible. While it feels like the end of a chapter for me, it’s also the beginning of something new and exciting for the organization. I’m so thankful for this amazing community and everyone who has put their own enthusiasm and energy into its growth right alongside me. This community is the heartbeat of the organization and will be an integral part of its success going forward. This work remains critical for both our sector and the communities we serve,” she continued.

An executive search is now underway for a new Executive Director. The process is expected to be completed with a new hire announced before the end of the year.
