WRISE Appoints Shirley Chin and Shruti Nayar to Board of Directors
New Board members bring deep expertise in renewable energy, leadership, and workforce development to support WRISE’s next chapter of growth.
BROOKLYN, N.Y. — July 9, 2026 — Women of Renewable Industries and Sustainable Energy (WRISE) today announced the appointment of Shirley Chin and Shruti Nayar to its Board of Directors. Their appointments expand the Board to 12 members and strengthen WRISE’s leadership as the organization continues advancing its mission to accelerate the leadership and advancement of women and other genders across the clean energy workforce.
Chin and Nayar bring decades of experience spanning renewable energy, finance, law, organizational leadership, and workforce development. Both have played significant leadership roles within WRISE’s chapter network, helping strengthen member engagement, expand regional communities, and support the next generation of clean energy leaders. Their appointments reflect WRISE’s continued investment in cultivating leadership from within its community while positioning the organization for long-term growth and impact.
About Shirley Chin
Shirley Chin is Senior Managing Director and Head of Tax Insurance at Willis Towers Watson. A tax attorney with more than 25 years of experience across the private, public, government, and nonprofit sectors, she has held leadership roles at Sunrun, Evergrow, and the IRS Office of Chief Counsel, where she specialized in renewable energy tax policy and controversy, corporate finance and transactions, and regulatory matters.
Chin previously served on the board of the WRISE San Francisco Chapter, strengthening member engagement and expanding leadership opportunities across the organization’s network. Throughout her career, she has advised policymakers and industry leaders on renewable energy tax policy and financing.
She holds a J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law, an M.P.A. from Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government, and a bachelor’s degree in economics/business and political science from UCLA.

About Shruti Nayar
Shruti Nayar serves as Chief of Staff at Expedition Infrastructure Partners, a merchant bank focused on critical infrastructure and the energy transition. With more than a decade of experience in renewable energy, she has held roles across development, project finance, asset management, and strategic advisory with Green Giraffe Advisory, Sustainable Development Capital LLP, GoldenSet Capital Partners, and GS Power Partners.
Nayar most recently served as Chapter Lead for WRISE Boston, where she helped strengthen member engagement, expand programming, and build Chapter infrastructure. She previously spent six years on the Executive Board of Young Professionals in Energy New York City, serving as Secretary, Diversity Lead, Vice President, and President. She has also served on the Advisory Committee for the CityParks Foundation’s Learn Programs, supporting STEM-based environmental education for New York City public school students.
She holds a BA from the University of Rochester, where she double majored in economics and environmental studies, an Advanced Diploma in Energy Finance from NYU School of Professional Studies, and FINRA Series licenses 63, 79, and 82.

This fall, WRISE will host its flagship event, the WRISE Leadership Forum, September 29–October 1 in Chicago. The conference is expected to welcome more than 750 professionals from across the clean energy industry and reflects WRISE’s continued growth as the organization expands its membership, corporate partnerships, and network of more than 50 chapters serving over 25,000 professionals throughout the United States and Canada.
