Constance Thompson Joins WRISE Board of Directors
Brooklyn, NY — Women of Renewable Industries and Sustainable Energy (WRISE) is excited to welcome Constance Thompson to their Board of Directors. As a new board member, Constance will support our growing impact programs, catalyzing young people across the country on their journey into the renewable energy and sustainability sector.
Thompson serves as Senior Vice President, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice at the American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE). As a member of ACORE’s leadership team, Thompson is responsible for collaboratively driving and implementing ACORE’s DEIJ strategy focused on leveraging ACORE’s public and private networks to build opportunities for smaller renewable energy companies owned and operated by women, Black, Indigenous, and people of color leaders while advocating for national policies and industry best practices that accelerate social and economic justice as a part of our nation’s transition to a renewable energy economy.
Thompson brings to the WRISE Board of Directors over 15 years of experience leading, designing, sustaining, and measuring the impact of transformational DEI-focused initiatives on behalf of leading Fortune 500, Ivy League, and trade associations and serves on the Renewables Forward Board of Direction.
“It is nothing short of an honor to join the board of this trailblazing organization that has made such transformational impacts on the lives of those who identify with and actively support our mission. I look forward to collaboratively serving the members, partners, staff, and allies of WRISE by accelerating the impact of our intersectional and groundbreaking initiatives centered on women of color entrepreneurship and accelerating women into executive ranks within the renewable sector,” said Thompson. “Now, more than ever, the industry needs WRISE’s expertise, collective impact, and unapologetic leadership. I look forward to playing a pivotal role in our continued movement toward “changing our energy future through the collective power of community.”
WRISE continues to inspire and grow across the clean energy industry. This October, the organization returned to its in-person Leadership Forum with about 520 participants from across the country. Individual membership continues to grow, corporate partnerships are expanding, and there are now over 35 active chapters across the United States and Canada.
