WRISE congratulates Melina Acevedo on this esteemed recognition, celebrating her achievements and her invaluable contributions to the industry.

Brooklyn, NYWomen of Renewable Industries and Sustainable Energy (WRISE) is proud to announce that Melina Acevedo, Project Management and Development Associate at D.E. Shaw Renewable Investments and leader of Latinxs in Sustainability, has been honored as the 2024 recipient of the Kacie Peters Impact Award. 

This distinguished award recognizes Melina’s dedication to workforce development and her commitment to advancing inclusivity in the renewable energy sector. The award was presented at the WRISE 2024 Leadership Forum, where over 800 industry leaders and advocates gathered to celebrate individuals who are shaping a more equitable and diverse future in renewable energy.

Melina’s work embodies the values of the Kacie Peters Impact Award. As a member of the Leadership Team at Latinxs in Sustainability, she leads workforce development programs that support students and young professionals from historically marginalized communities, building a leadership pipeline where diverse talent can thrive in sustainability roles. In addition to her work at Latinxs in Sustainability, Melina founded a scholarship program and career fair through the Young Professionals in Energy San Francisco Chapter, further demonstrating her commitment to inclusivity and community impact.

The Kacie Peters Impact Award, named in honor of Kacie Peters, celebrates individuals who have excelled in fostering inclusivity, making impactful contributions, and building community in the renewable energy field. This award is supported by members of Pivot Energy, the Colorado Solar and Storage Association (COSSA), the Coalition for Community Solar Access (CCSA), WRISE, and other industry professionals, underscoring a shared commitment across the sector to championing leaders who drive progress and equity.
