WRISE Rings in 2025 with a Renewed Mission and 20th Anniversary Celebration
WRISE proudly marks 20 years of advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in renewable energy with a renewed mission to champion impactful change and equal opportunity, culminating in a 20th Anniversary Gala in New York City on June 26, 2025.
Brooklyn, NY, January, 2025 — Women of Renewable Industries and Sustainable Energy (WRISE) proudly kicks off 2025 by celebrating 20 years of driving the advancement of ALL women and underrepresented groups in the renewable and sustainable energy sectors. As part of activities to mark this significant milestone, WRISE is unveiling a refreshed mission statement as follows:
WRISE drives the transition to an equitable energy future by championing the advancement of *ALL women across the renewable and sustainable energy industries.
Advancing *ALL women include focusing on underrepresented genders, races, and ethnicities.
This mission will guide WRISE as it boldly continues its work to remove the barriers to, and advocates for policies that support the advancement, empowerment and development of ALL women and gender identities in the renewable and sustainable energy sectors.
To commemorate two decades of impactful work, WRISE will host a series of events throughout the year, the highlight being the 20th Anniversary Gala, taking place on June 26, 2025, in New York City. This signature event will bring together founding members, industry leaders, members, supporters and allies to celebrate WRISE’s legacy and past achievements as well as recommit to the shared vision of a more equitable energy future. Details on the 20th anniversary activity celebrations will follow shortly.

With our renewed mission, we’re building on that legacy to be the catalyst for change in an industry that is crucial to the global shift towards sustainability,” said Doseke Akporiaye, Executive Director at WRISE. “The 20th Anniversary Gala will be a momentous occasion to celebrate our achievements, honor those who paved the way, and inspire the next generation of leaders.”
The coming years are pivotal for WRISE as it continues its programs to elevate ALL women in the clean energy sector. “We’re just getting started,” said Doseke Akporiaye, Executive Director at WRISE. “Our renewed mission is more important than ever, and we will continue to advocate for policies and practices that provide ALL women with the tools and opportunities they need to develop, grow and lead. The next 20 years will be transformative, and we are excited to continue forging strategic partnerships to build an inclusive workforce and provide women with the resources necessary to succeed.
